Smart Saturation 1.1

Have you ever attempted to enhance the saturation of your photos, anticipating a burst of vibrant colors, only to find that your skin tone resembles that of a Cheeto? This common issue arises from conventional saturation algorithms that utilize a multiplication-based approach. When you increase saturation, each pixel in the image has its saturation value doubled. Consequently, pixels with low saturation remain nearly unchanged (for example, a saturation value of 0.1 becomes only 0.2), while already vibrant pixels become exceptionally oversaturated (a value of 70 can soar to 140). This results in muted areas retaining their dullness, while colorful sections appear unnaturally vivid.

To achieve effective saturation adjustment, an algorithm must modify less saturated pixels more significantly than it adjusts those with higher saturation levels. Our team has developed a formula that addresses this issue, allowing for a more balanced approach to saturation enhancement. This algorithm is now available to the public through our application.
